Meals

Mouthwatering dishes made with fresh, local ingredients

Aubergine restaurant Kalkan Turkey

All our food is locally sourced. The variety and quality of organic produce that is available in the region is outstanding and this makes for some delicious meals. We serve healthy (sometimes a bit naughty particularly when it comes to deserts!) and seasonal food using the best local produce.

Outstanding cuisine and service at local restaurants

During your stay we eat out in local restaurants for several evening meals. Kalkan is well known for the quality of its restaurants and each has been specially selected by us having got to know the best places and the restaurant owners over many years of being based in the region. We dine by candlelight at one of the beautiful harbour restaurants that it known for its Ottoman specialities whilst admiring the stunning views out across the Mediterranean sea.

Specially selected family run restaurants

The standard of dining in Kalkan is a wonderful surprise and there is a wide variety of Mediterranean and Ottoman cuisine on offer. Restaurant ownership is often shared between Turks from Istanbul and local people which results in excellent standards of cuisine. We also visit some local restaurants off the beaten track during your stay where fine home Turkish cooking is on offer and where you will experience the authentic cuisine of this region.

Fresh organic ingredients locally sourced

Breakfasts are served on the terrace at Villa Vanilla sitting in the sunshine overlooking the turquoise seas of the bay of Kalkan. A range of locally sourced fresh fruit, nuts, cheeses, honeys and jams are on offer, along with traditional eggs, orange juice and freshly baked bread. Coffee and a wide selection of teas are always available.

Evening meals under the stars at Villa Vanilla

Candlelight evening meals at Villa Vanilla are normally served on the terrace under the stars and overlooking the twinkling lights of Kalkan old town and the Mediterranean sea. Our resident chef has training at River Cottage and Cambridge Cookery Schools. The meals use the finest sourced organic ingredients including local fresh fish that comes into the harbour each morning. Special dietary requirements are catered for providing you let us know in advance.
